An Naman Castle, also known as Bait Na’aman, is a fortification near the coastal town of Barka, Oman.
It’s easy to reach from Muscat, and very much worth a visit if you have time.

Even though it’s called a castle, based on the size I’d say it’s more of a fort. It’s still impressive and interesting to walk through, though.
This castle may not be as well known as some of the other forts in Oman, but I think it’s one of the most photogenic, and it just reopened after a long period of restoration work.
Bring water! The walk up to the top of the castle can be extremely hot depending on the season.

The castle is in Barka, about 70 kilometers (45 miles) from Muscat.
You can drive there yourself with a rental car, or there are prepackaged day tours from Muscat that include the castle as part of their itinerary.
I stayed at the 2-star Mutrah Hotel in Muscat, in a private room for $38 USD per night. Oman is not the cheapest country to travel, but the room was big and clean, and the A/C was nice and cold.
The location was a big plus. There was a mini-mart right across the street, and it was near the Mutrah Souq (traditional market) and some other interesting places.
Prices may fluctuate from time to time, so just keep an eye out for a good deal.
